Equine Massage Following 2017 Season

Equine Massage Following 2017 Season

The JR’s Carriage Service Team is busy wrapping up our 2017 Season. We are really proud of how hard our horses worked this past year. They never once questioned the situations we exposed them to. It’s a bond and a level of trust that we’ll never truly understand. There were many days where we wondered who was teaching who. The opportunities that we have been given, the friendships that we cherish, and passion that keeps us going is all because of these gentle giants. They cost us a fortune to own but the memories they create and the happiness that they bring is worth every penny! We tip our hats to all of you who have supported and embraced our business, our passion, and our heritage.

We brought in Freedom Animal Wellness, LLC to reward the horses for working so hard for us this past year. Freedom Animal Wellness specializes in equine massage and animal acupressure. At first the horses were a little unsure about the new experience. However, it didn’t take long for them to relax and enjoy their sessions. It was really satisfying for us to see the horses react by dropping their heads, closing their eyes, licking their lips and stretching after the massage. The benefits of an equine massage can include:

  • Increased Blood Circulation

  • Increase Lymph Movement

  • Improve Muscle Health & Function

  • Improves muscle tone and elasticity

  • Improve range of movement

  • Reduces risk of pulled muscles

  • Minimizes stiffness

  • Improves and reduces muscle atrophy

  • Stimulates Acupressure Points

  • Emotional Support

  • Induces rapid cell renewal and tissue repair

  • Helps ease painful, sore joints

  • Helps keep joints flexible

Plus, who doesn’t love a good massage!?! We highly recommend and wellness evaluation from Lindsey Repp, owner of Freedom Animal Wellness. Lindsey’s love for animals led her to a career as a Certified Equine Massage Therapist and Animal Acupressure Practitioner. She received her certifications from The Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure & Massage (RSMAAM) in June of 2015. In addition to working on horses, Lindsey can also work on your cats and dogs. Excited to WELCOME Kaysyn Chintala as the newest member of the JR’s Carriage Service Team.

Joining our team, Kaysyn is delighted to share the Old West heritage with those who are open to equine adventures.

Along with Kaysyn’s passion for horses, she fell in love with athletics where she pursued volleyball and basketball scholarships in the flatlands of Kansas. Paint A Pony!

The JR’s Team got to help a very special friend of ours celebrate her birthday this past weekend. “Paint A Pony” is a unique experience for birthday parties, fundraisers and/or even a good therapy session. The horses love the extra pampering and attention that they get. The washable paint easily washes off of the kiddos, clothes and most importantly the horses. JR spent some time, prior to the art session, teaching the participants about draft horses and the Percheron breed. Contact JR’s Carriage Service for additional information on the Paint A Pony experience.

Specially trained counselors offer grief education and counseling in Delta, Mesa, Montrose and Ouray counties. HopeWest Kids program also has an Equine Program called “Healing with Horses”. The program is led by EAGALA certified staff that pair kids with horses to process the thoughts and feelings associated with grief.  The groups are seasonal (Fall, Spring and Summer) and meet once a week for seven consecutive weeks.  The final two weeks involves a parent or guardian.

“Spoons” is a quaint little bistro and bakery that can be found on the grounds of HopeWest. In the evening the bistro transforms into a popular and fashionable restaurant, “Spoons After Dark”. Spoons is not your ordinary restaurant or bistro. All of the tips go directly to the HopeWest Kids program. Last year, this vital program provided more than 700 kids across the Western Slope with much needed comfort and support.

The Next Generation Board recently hosted an exclusive fundraising event called “Spoons Under the Moon”. Holy Cross Abby – Colorado’s Premiere Wedding Destination

Holy Cross Abby in Cañon City, CO. Photo provided by Holy Cross Abby.

It’s Wedding Planning Season! JR’s Carriage Service will be highlighting several wedding destination across the State of Colorado. Who knows….one of these locations could be your dream wedding destination!

The Holy Cross Abbey is located on 200 acres at the eastern edge of Cañon City, Colorado. The monastery building is a charming, four-story, English Gothic structure that has been enrolled in the National Registry of Historical Places. About fifty acres of the land constitute the Abbey campus. The remaining area is mostly under cultivation or used for various shops and farm buildings. Two Benedictine monks from St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, PA came to Breckenridge, CO, in 1886. Other monks followed in ensuing years, moving from Breckenridge to Boulder to Pueblo to Cañon City, where the foundation was named Holy Cross Abbey. Until 1985, the monks of Holy Cross Abbey conducted a boarding school for high school students, and at times, also for middle school and college students.

Several years ago, some simple Benedictine Fathers had a dream…a dream of a fine winery located on the grounds of the historic Holy Cross Abbey. Today, that dream is a reality and the staff at the winery proudly invites you to share in the vision of those dynamic and innovative monks. Since July 2002, The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey has been attracting visitors from all over the world. Located on the pastoral and serene grounds of The Holy Cross Abbey, nestled against the spectacular backdrop of the Wet Mountains, the winery and tasting room are shining examples of what draws visitors to Cañon City and Fremont County. This wedding destination offers the accommodations for both the ceremony and the reception. Their reception area is large and surrounded by window that overlook the grounds. Click Here to view more pictures of the venue and/or for more information on the Holy Cross Abbey.
